Being a funeral director
What kind of person becomes a funeral director?
Funeral service requires dedicated people who are seeking a dynamic
career with the opportunity to impact on others. Providing quality
service to families during a time of loss requires special skills,
qualities and training. Funeral directors are competent, caring,
patient, sympathetic, attentive and adaptable. They care for the
dead with dignity and reverence. Funeral directors must be able
to counsel as well as console. They respond to the psychological,
legal and social issues surrounding death. For more information,
contact your local funeral director. In Ontario, two colleges: Boreal
College in Sudbury, and Humber College in Toronto offer funeral
service education programs.
